Sugar Cookies

 Ingredients:

1 cup butter

1 cup sugar

1 large egg

1 teaspoon vanilla

2 tsp baking powder

3 cups flour

Method:

In a large bowl cream butter and sugar.  Mix in egg and vanilla. Combine the flour and baking powder in a separate bowl.  Add one cup of flour mixture at a time, at the end, mix by hand, dough will be stiff. Preheat oven to 400 degrees F. Divide into two balls.  Flour the surface and roll out to 1/4" thick. Dip cutters in flour. Cut shapes, place on ungreased cookie sheet, bake on top rack for 7 minutes, or until lightly browned.  This recipe makes about 2 dozen cookies to decorate.
