I found this recipe on Cooks.com
| Ingredients:
2 cups sugar 3/4 cup canned cream 2 tbsp. butter 1/2 tsp. salt 1 tsp. vanilla flavoring 4 tbsp. peanut butter, smooth or crunchy Method: Measure the sugar, canned cream and butter into a large saucepan. Bring to a full, rolling boil over medium heat. Cook about 7 minutes over medium heat to the soft-ball stage. (This means when mixture is dripped from a spoon into a cup of cold water, it will easily form a soft ball when water is poured off.)
Remove from heat. Add salt, vanilla flavoring, and peanut butter. Beat with an electric mixer until candy is very stiff and ridges form easily while beating. Butter the bottom and sides of a square baking dish and pour candy into prepared dish. Cool and cut into 1 1/2-inch squares. HINTS: NEVER use milk, which makes the candy crumbly. I always double the recipe and pour into a 9 X 13-inch prepared baking dish. One batch is never enough for us.
