We made play dough valentine's this year found at familyfun.com and they were so much fun and a huge hit in my daughter's class at school.
Recipe for play dough (for 24 valentines):
3 cups white flour
1 1/2 cups salt
1 1/2 teaspoons cream of tartar
3 1/4 cups water
3 tablespoons vegetable oil
Food coloring
Cookie Cutter (optional)
Cellophane bags
Card stock
Twist ties
Time needed: Afternoon or Evening
Mix the flour, salt, and cream of tarter in a med. saucepan. In a seperate bowl, mix the water and oil, then pour the liquid over the dry ingredients and stir. Cook over med-low heat, stirring continuously, until the mixture holds together and gets too stiff to stir ( it will stiffen even more as it cools), about 5 to 10 minutes. Let it cool, then knead it briefly. Halve the ball of dough, then knead food coloring into each half, a few drops at a time, until you reach the desired shade.
For each valentine, place the clay heart in a cellophane bag and add a card stock tag threaded onto a twist tie.
